What's in a name?
Co-founder Bekka’s childhood home – Sussex, England – was the inspiration for our name. Along with a penchant for tea and gardening, she brought with her an understanding that homes should be built to last for generations to come.
THE SUSSEX TEAM
RON BARTSCH &
BEKKA CANTRELL
Ron and Bekka are the tenacious husband and wife team that built Sussex Construction from a small cabinetry and remodel business to a thriving design/build company. Ron is a Montana native who left home after college to serve the Peace Corps in Uzbekistan for two and a half years. Bekka hails from Sussex, England and trained as a potter before heading out to explore the world. The adventurous pair met in Bangkok while they were both traveling and soon found themselves back in Montana, hitched and ready to start a business together. Together they raise their two kids, their two black Labradors, and play in nature whenever they can.

Darby
Forrest
Darby coordinates ordering for our projects throughout the design and construction process. Basically, she’s the reason your windows will all open correctly on move-in day. After living and teaching in New Zealand she moved back to Montana for the skiing, boating, biking, hiking and to raise her little boy!
Kasi
Root
Kasi specializes in design coordination and customer relations. She grew up here in Helena and moved back a few years ago, joining the Sussex team last fall. She and her husband enjoy all things outdoors, especially running. They spend most of their time supporting their two active children in all of their athletic endeavors so you'll likely see them out at a local sporting event.
