Starting Wages

No Experience: $15 – $20/hr

Concrete Laborer
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

· Mix, pour, and finish concrete for sidewalks, curbs, slabs, foundations, and other structural features.

· Prepare job sites by cleaning, setting up forms, and verifying proper alignment, elevation, and measurements.

· Place and secure steel reinforcement (rebar or mesh) in forms prior to concrete placement.

· Operate hand and power tools including trowels, floats, screeds, concrete saws, jackhammers, and vibrators.

· Assist in removing forms after concrete has cured and participate in job site cleanup.

· Safely operate equipment such as forklifts or cranes (if required and trained).

· Perform general labor tasks, including loading, unloading, and transporting materials on the job site.

· Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment in accordance with company safety policies and OSHA requirements.

· Communicate effectively with supervisors, team members, and project managers.

· May assist with demolition, grading, and subgrade preparation as needed.

SEASONAL SCHEDULE

· Summer: Monday–Thursday, 7:00 AM – 5:30 PM

· Winter: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM

QUALIFICATIONS

· Previous experience in construction and/or concrete preferred.

· Must be at least 18 years old and maintain a valid driver’s license.

· Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening and physical exam (per Montana industry standards).

· Ability to walk, stand, bend, stoop, squat, kneel, and lift 50–75 lbs for extended periods of time.

· Ability to work in all weather conditions including heat, cold, rain, snow, and around moving equipment.

· Ability to safely and effectively use a variety of hand and power tools.

General Carpenter
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

· Complete trim and finish carpentry tasks as assigned by the foreman based on blueprints, design plans, or verbal instructions.

· Work with multiple materials including wood, metal, plastic, fiberglass, and drywall.

· Install millwork and finish elements such as molding, casing, baseboard, crown molding, mantels, ceiling trim, and decorative features.

· Build and install cabinets, shelving, stair railings, and custom storage solutions.

· Hang, trim, and align interior doors, including installing related hardware to ensure proper fit and function.

· Join materials using nails, screws, staples, adhesives, or other fastening methods.

· Use hand and power tools to cut, fit, shape, and assemble components with accuracy.

· Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment; perform minor repairs as needed.

· Ensure all finished work meets company quality standards and adheres to safety requirements and Sussex Construction policies.

 

SEASONAL SCHEDULE

· Summer: Monday–Thursday, 7:00 AM – 5:30 PM

· Winter: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM

 

QUALIFICATIONS

· Certifications Required: OSHA 10 (additional carpentry or safety training is a plus).

· Experience in finish or trim carpentry preferred.

· Proficiency with carpentry tools, power tools, and related equipment.

· Ability to read and interpret blueprints, design plans, and detailed trim drawings.

· Physical ability to bend, kneel, lift up to 80 lbs., climb ladders, and stand for extended periods.

· Strong attention to detail, craftsmanship, and precision.

· Good communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.

· Willingness to stay updated on new building materials, methods, and finish techniques.

· Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening and physical exam.

Equipment Operator
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

· Operate heavy equipment safely, efficiently, and with high-quality workmanship while meeting production goals.

· Confirm all utilities, underground lines, and structures are located prior to excavation.

· Maintain legal and safe excavations in compliance with OSHA and City/County/State regulations.

· Inspect equipment and the work area before starting each job; complete all required safety paperwork.

· Perform routine equipment inspections and minor maintenance as needed.

· Load trucks with dirt, rock, aggregate, or other materials using various types of equipment.

· Understand soil classifications, how they impact excavation, and the hazards each soil type may present.

· Maintain constant situational awareness; safely operate equipment near underground utilities, overhead utilities, structures, other equipment, and workers.

· Maintain consistent workflow and productivity with minimal supervision.

· Ensure equipment is safely shut down, secured, and stored at the end of each shift.

· Perform other duties as assigned by supervisors.

· Occasional out-of-town work may be required.

· Ability to work independently with minimal supervision in a fast-paced team environment.

Landscape Laborer
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

· Perform general landscape maintenance including mowing, mulching, edging, trimming, and pruning of lawns, trees, shrubs, and vegetation.

· Plant trees, shrubs, and other landscape materials according to project specifications.

· Assist in the installation and maintenance of landscape features such as turf, walkways, hardscapes, irrigation systems, and drainage systems.

· Maintain grounds, pathways, and parking areas; clean up debris, litter, and jobsite waste.

· Complete seasonal tasks such as snow removal and ice control.

· Follow all company safety procedures and maintain a clean, safe working environment.

 

SEASONAL SCHEDULE

QUALIFICATIONS

· High school diploma or GED preferred.

· Certification Required: OSHA 10.

· Skills related to complete landscape installation, including digging, trenching, sprinklers, drainpipe installation, planting, outdoor lighting, mulch and rock placement, edging, retaining walls, patios, and related features.

· Ability to follow instructions and work efficiently as part of a crew.

· Ability to safely use tools commonly required for landscaping, including: Shovels, rakes, pruners, sledgehammers, Skid-steers, trenchers, backhoes, Hydro-seeders and other specialized equipment

· Must possess a valid driver’s license.

· Must enjoy working outdoors and be able to work in varying weather conditions.

· Knowledge of landscape safety guidelines preferred.

· Physical ability to kneel, bend, stand for long periods, lift heavy items, and perform physically demanding tasks.

· Ability to pass pre-employment drug screening and a physical exam.

Mechanic
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Diagnose, repair, and maintain company vehicles, heavy equipment, and machinery including trucks, trailers, skid steers, excavators, curb machines, and small engines to ensure safe and reliable operation.
  • Perform preventative maintenance services, including inspections, fluid changes, lubrication, component adjustments, and scheduled service intervals.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems to identify malfunctions and determine appropriate repairs using diagnostic tools and technical manuals.
  • Inspect equipment and vehicles before and after service; complete all required maintenance, safety, and inspection documentation accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Ensure all repairs and maintenance work comply with OSHA standards and applicable City, County, and State regulations.
  • Safely operate tools, diagnostic equipment, and shop machinery in accordance with best practices and manufacturer guidelines.
  • Respond to breakdowns in the field or shop and perform emergency repairs as needed to minimize downtime.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area and properly store tools, parts, and materials.
  • Communicate repair needs, safety concerns, and equipment status clearly to supervisors and operators and recommend corrective or preventative actions.
  • Ensure equipment is properly shut down, secured, tested, and released for service after repairs are completed.
  • Maintain awareness of workplace hazards and take corrective action when unsafe conditions are identified or report hazards when corrective action cannot be immediately taken.
  • Maintain consistent productivity and quality of work with minimal supervision while meeting deadlines and operational needs.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisors.
  • Occasional out-of-town or after-hours work may be required to support operational demands or emergency repairs.

  • Working knowledge of tools, equipment, materials, service manuals, schematics, and safety regulations related to heavy equipment and vehicle repair.
  • Experience with heavy equipment, diesel engines, and/or fleet vehicles preferred.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and effective verbal communication.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision in a fast-paced team environment; dependable with a strong work ethic and positive attitude.
